First Post - A Year Late, But Who's Counting?

So, I'm finally going to start this 'ere blog. I set it up, ooooh, fecking ages ago, and am actually just starting my second year of my PhD, but what with one thing and another, I've never got round to actually doing anything with it.

However, now that I've (mostly) stopped being a jack-of-all-trades and 24/7 barmaid and am (at least theoretically) something approaching a 'proper' research student and GTA, I thought I'd actually use it to bounce ideas around (and things.)
